Brendan Tonks is the Owner and Director of Steve Bennett Plumbing, a licensed plumbing and gasfitting business serving South Sydney and the St George area for more than 40 years. Brendan holds NSW Contractor Licence #300355c and took over leadership of the business in 2021, directing a 2025 expansion of the company’s emergency plumbing operations that added staff and upgraded dispatch systems to speed up response times across the region.
Brendan works across residential, commercial, and emergency plumbing jobs, with particular focus on blocked drains, hot water system installation and repair, leak detection, and gasfitting compliance under the AS/NZS 3500 plumbing code. He’s available to comment for media on emergency plumbing response, gas safety, hot water system failures, and running a licensed trade business in Sydney.

From a young age, Brendan was drawn to hands-on work and problem-solving. He chose plumbing because it offered the chance to work with people, build practical skills, and genuinely help clients maintain safe, functional homes and businesses.
He went on to develop extensive experience across residential, commercial, and aged care plumbing before taking over the business when founder Steve Bennett retired.
Brendan worked closely alongside Steve Bennett Plumbing for years, sharing the same values: quality workmanship and genuine customer care.
When the opportunity came to take over, it was more than a business decision. It was a commitment to carry forward the trust and reputation the business had built over decades, while bringing his own vision for the future.
Today, Brendan remains actively involved in day-to-day operations and takes pride in ensuring every job meets the high standard our plumbing services are known for.
Brendan is passionate about staying active and values a healthy work-life balance. Outside of work, you will find him on the soccer field, snowboarding, or spending time with family and friends.
He brings that same teamwork, discipline, and dedication from sport into the way he leads the business.
